Copies of the following required documents should reach Concorde Travel & Tours no later than two months prior
to the wedding either by registered mail or fax:
- Each of the bride and groom’s birth certificates
- Each of the first three pages of the bride and groom’s passport
- Any divorce certificates (if applicable)
- Any death certificates of the spouse or certificates of any previous marriage (If one or both the bride and groom
are divorced or widowed)
- Any change of name documents in the event of a change of name (deed poll) – (if applicable)
- The bride and groom’s occupation
- The couple’s current residential address
Important! Please note: A widow or divorcee is not allowed
to remarry within 300 days of her being divorced or widowed. Furthermore, prior to the marriage, the bride must undergo a
medical test in Mauritius and this test must confirm that the bride is not pregnant. In the event the test is positive,
the marriage cannot take place.
Wedding formalities
One or two days after their arrival, a Concorde representative will accompany the couple to the capital city of Port Louis,
to assist with completing the different formalities:
- Verification of the original documents at the Central Civil Status Office
- Verification of the contents of the Affidavits at the Attorney‘s Office;
- Swearing of the Affidavits at the Supreme Court
- Finally, on the way back to the hotel, the publication of the banns at the regional Civil Status Office
Please note: Additional requirements applicable to French citizens
In order for the marriage to be recognized by the French authorities, all the required documentation must be submitted to
the French Embassy in Mauritius at least two and a half months before the celebration of the wedding in Mauritius.
Upon request, Concorde may act as your point of contact for all these formalities and liaise with the French Embassy on your
behalf in Mauritius.
Types of Matrimonial Regimes
Before the marriage, the bride and groom may choose among three kinds of matrimonial
contracts:
1. The system of legal community of goods and property.
2. The system of legal separation of goods.
3. A marriage settlement embodied in a notarial deed, in accordance with the wishes of the both spouses.*
*Note : The original of the notarial deed must be presented to the Civil Status
Officer celebrating the marriage since reference to it should be made on the marriage certificate.
