World renowned for its great catches, Mauritius is one of the most sought out destinations by big game fishing professionals and
amateurs alike, and the host of the Marlin World Cup off its western shores every year. In 1962, the first Blue Marlin world record
was established off the west coast for the catch of a superb fish weighing an impressive 1110 pounds.
Several fish featuring on the IGFA record list have been caught here. Regular fishing catches include the blue and black marlins,
sailfish, wahoo, dorado, tuna, bonito, barracuda and shark.
